Every day, I have the privilege of working with an incredible group of student-athletes in a tough area of Las Vegas. These kids show up with heart, determination, and pride—despite facing challenges no child should have to worry about. Many of my students don’t have access to new jackets when it rains, or new shoes when theirs get worn out.

Yet, they still show up. They work hard and represent our school with courage and joy.

Our school does its best, but due to limited funding, we can only purchase sports gear that stays with the school to be reused year after year. While this helps our teams function, it means our athletes rarely get to keep anything of their own—nothing to hold onto, nothing to remind them that they mattered, that they belonged, and that they were part of something special.

My goal is to raise $1,700-2,000 to purchase custom basketball sweatshirts for both our girls AND boys basketball teams—hoodies they can wear on game days to stay warm, dry, and confident, and most importantly, hoodies they can keep.

These jackets would be more than team apparel. They would be a reminder that someone believed in them—that they are worthy of something new, something nice, something lasting. For some of them, this may be the only brand new piece of clothing they receive all year.

If we reach our goal, any additional funds will go directly toward other much-needed items for our students.
