Help Give Winter Coats to Children in Need

Tax deductible
Imagine being a parent struggling through a financial hardship being forced to decide between using the little money you have for rent, food, or clothing for your children? The anguish that families are enduring as they weigh these decisions and try to make ends meet is heartbreaking. This is a very real problem for many families, especially now with the additional unemployment and financial strain caused by Covid-19.

Now imagine being a child in a family without the necessary money to put food on the table or pay the many bills facing a family. No child should ever have to face that type of anxiety or pressure.

I’m asking you to help provide a basic necessity to a child in need, a new winter coat. Many children from families in need either have a winter coat that isn’t warm enough, doesn’t fit properly, or worst of all, they have no winter coat at all. Providing a child with a new winter coat gives that child what all children should have, physical and emotional warmth as well as confidence and a pride of ownership.

My company, Warm Coats for Cool Kids, has one mission, to provide winter coats to children from families in need. We will be providing the coats through coat distribution events at local schools, churches, and other organizations. We will also be delivering coats directly to families in need.

One of the local school districts with whom we will be working reports that 67% of their families are low-income families. Just think about that, in every classroom 2 out of 3 students are from families that are living through financial hardship. The United States Census Bureau reported in 2020 that 14% of school age children live below the poverty line. Those are staggering numbers considering that the United States is the wealthiest country in the world. There is an overwhelming need to help these children who can’t help themselves.

Prior to starting Warm Coats for Cool Kids, I volunteered at our local food pantry. While volunteering at the food pantry I became aware of the overwhelming need to provide the most basic necessities to many families that are struggling financially. This experience made me realize, if families can’t afford to purchase food, how can they afford other necessities like rent, utilities, or a basic need like warm coats for their children. It was then that I decided to start my company, Warm Coats for Cool Kids, Inc., dedicated to providing new winter coats to children in need. Warm Coats for Cool Kids, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, charitable organization.

Our sources for obtaining new winter coats are local retail stores and the not-for-profit organization, Operation Warm. I am asking that you help us raise the funds necessary to provide winter coats to as many children as possible. Every dollar you donate will be used to obtain and distribute coats to children. For $20 we are able to obtain a new winter coat for a child in need. Please consider donating $20, $40, $100 or more; whatever you can donate will be greatly appreciated by me and by the children who receive the coats purchased with your donation. We will match all donations received up to $5,000.

Winter is fast approaching, please help us put a warm coat and a smile on a child in need.

Thank you for your donation.
