War Party Ranch- March through Argentina

March through Argentina has come to fruition in a quick, coincidental, sequence of events… in knowledge that nothing in life happens without reason.

My name is Jess Howard, I’m 28 years old, from small town in the heart of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. This January at an Art of the Cowgirl event in Arizona I was able to meet Jeremiah Wilber, co-founder of the War Party Ranch. War Party Ranch is an organization formed to help women break the cycle of being stuck in abusive relationships by teaching them skills necessary to find a place in the working horse/ranching/agriculture industry.

I was so moved. As someone who was raised and taught these skills as a young girl, I can without doubt attribute the time I’ve spent with horses in the mountains to helping me become the independent, self-sufficient, woman I am today. Not only that, but as someone who has experienced what this kind of toxicity looks like in a relationship~ something about this organization just hit home a little harder than I ever could have anticipated.

This March 2023 I had already planned on embarking on a solo pack trip in Argentina, where 3 years ago in March I will have left my own toxic scenario. So much of this trip was planned as a method of healing for me. To go back to a place that held a lot of pain and memories, face it, and move forward. It was a way to reclaim some of what I thought I had lost.

The truth is, 1 in 3 women have experienced some form of physical violence by an intimate partner. 1 in 7 women have been injured by an intimate partner. 72% of all murders are committed by an intimate partner. With statistics as high as these there was no way I could let my fear of being vulnerable keep me from seeing the bigger picture here.

With all that being said, I would love if you’d embark with me on this journey to raise funds for the War Party Ranch organization throughout the entire month of March. I could not think of a better way to share my own journey of healing than by helping someone else break their cycle of abuse. Any amount donated is helpful!
