Hello, my name is Mohammad Wishah (22). With a heavy heart, I'm reaching out from the heart of Gaza to plea for urgent relief for my family from the dire circumstances here. I share with you our story of suffering during over 160 days of war, fleeing several times, losing our house, displacement, losing our (income, education, work, dreams, lives), lack of water, food scarcity, and constant threats to our safety.

It's a plea to help us evacuate to Egypt for safety and rebuild our lives.

Your support gives us a lifeline and hope for a new beginning amidst the chaos and uncertainty of war.

We had a home and a family: my father Ashraf (47), my kind and caring mother Samiera (43), Mohammad "me" (22), my dear sister Menna (17), my two young brothers Ramez (14) and Abdullah (12), my cousin Asem (22), and our beautiful cat (2).

I'm Mohammad, 22, an IT student and a Web developer. For the past 4 years, I have been trying to challenge the harsh reality and life's obstacles in Al-Bureij refugee camp in the Gaza Strip. At the end of 2019, I started studying IT at the university and self-learning to improve my skills and, as small steps, to seek a better future for myself and my family. By the end of 2020, I got my first job at a local company, which was an outstanding achievement. I had a job, a promising career, and over 3 years of great experience in my field. I was on the verge of more significant things I aspired for.

But everything changed ...

The War turned everything upside down and our lives into a nightmare.

Urgent Appeal To All Vegans Around The World



October 7th and beyond

Bombings everywhere and in every direction, direct targeting and killing of civilians, children, and women, targeting homes, residential buildings, infrastructure and economic infrastructure, and destruction of all aspects of life in the Gaza Strip.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our neighborhood is stormed and destroyed. Dozens of houses near our house have been bombed from all sides until our house is badly damaged. Our area has no infrastructure, electricity poles or connections, landlines, internet, cell towers, water, or sewage, and all lands and roads have been bulldozed. Even the UNRWA clinic that serves the people of the camp was targeted. The camp is uninhabitable.

Over 160 days of war and displacement

Since October 7, we have been forced to leave our house 4 times, most recently on October 12, and have been displaced to my aunt's house in Rafah till today, where it currently houses 3 other displaced families.

I remember when we all ran out in a panic after a sudden warning that a neighboring house was going to be bombed. I remember staying in the house until the last moment, gathering what I could, carrying my laptop bag on my back, a bag of clothes in one hand, and the bag in which I had put our cat in the other. I didn't know how to carry all my things, my souvenirs, my books, my clothes, every piece in my room meant something to me, I didn't know what to take and what to leave, hoping to return to it later. We ran down the street, not knowing what to do or where to go.

My Mother (Samira, 43) has hyperthyroidism and needs necessary surgery.

The local company I worked at was destroyed, along with the entire building where it is located, as well as 12 floors of other local companies, media agencies, and workplaces.

In recent months, my family and I have lost our source of income.

In the few months before the war, I saved part of my salary for many plans, such as buying a new laptop so that I could work without hindrance. Unfortunately, due to displacement and war, our savings had been spent on securing our basic needs, such as water and food.

My university, Al-Aqsa University, the Khan Yunis branch, which was the largest campus in the Gaza Strip, and the Gaza Branch were both destroyed; it's almost impossible to complete the educational process under such conditions.

Before October 7th

A look at the ruins

My family and I were struggling under life's conditions in the Gaza Strip, going about our lives as much as we could.

I used to spend most of my days immersed in the work. I've tried to develop my skills, keep up with the latest updates in my field, and build my career one step at a time.

I have been vegan since 28 March 2020.

These days mark the fourth anniversary of my going vegan.

4 years of veganism have changed my life and taught me empathy, even in the darkest moments.

Before the war, I used to make many vegan foods with love and enjoy them.

But Now, food itself is scarce. There is a Lack of resources and daily living needs!

Even in the face of war, hunger, genocide and the silence of the world, I won't give up my veganism.

I used to photograph the sky and sunsets with much passion.

My mother, Samira (43 years old), is a chef, a member of the Palestinian Chefs Club, and a cooking instructor.

Despite the difficulties of her hearing impairment, it didn't prevent her from practising her passion for cooking. She competed in competitions in the Gaza Strip and reached the finals. She has many followers on her Instagram page, where she has been posting her recipes and sharing what she made with love. Despite all her obstacles, she established her business at home, where she received orders for baking pastry and preparing desserts. She dreamed of becoming an international professional chef and appearing on world cooking shows and channels.

My sister Menna (17) is a high school student, and my brothers Ramez (14) and Abdullah (12) are middle school students, they dreamed of nothing more than a normal, safe life.

This is our beautiful, intelligent cat that we adopted in March 2021.

My cousin Asem (22 years old), a multimedia student and UI/UX designer, was making his way into his field and freelancing.

He had been trying to establish his start-up agency and was about to launch it in early October, days before the war.

An environment without the necessities of decent human life!

The situation in Rafah:

It's a massively overcrowded area, with over 1.5 million people crammed into 50 km² and a very worn-out health and medical situation, as there is no hospital in Rafah to provide medical care.

A fertile environment for spreading diseases and epidemics, a complete lack of medical services and medicines, contaminated drinking water, lack of water, and streets flooded with dirt and sewage.

Unfortunately, every day, we hear continuous threats that a military ground operation in Rafah is about to begin. Every day, we feel that the threat is getting closer and greater, especially with the increasing pace of war in Rafah in recent weeks; this makes us feel anxious and concerned about our survival and fate if these threats come true.

A Desperate Plea for Help

We have patiently waited for the war to end and things to improve. But with no end in sight, we have made this difficult decision.

القصف في كل مكان وفي كل اتجاه، والاستهداف والقتل المباشرين للمدنيين والأطفال والنساء، واستهداف المنازل والمباني السكنية والبنية التحتية والبنية التحتية الاقتصادية، وتدمير جميع جوانب الحياة في قطاع غزة.

حالة بيتنا وحينا

تم اقتحام حينا وتدميره. تعرضت عشرات المنازل القريبة من منزلنا للقصف من جميع الجوانب حتى تضرر منزلنا بشدة. لا تحتوي الآن منطقتنا على بنية تحتية أو أعمدة كهرباء أو اتصالات، أو خطوط أرضية أو إنترنت أو أبراج لإرسال شبكات الهاتف المحمول أو خطوط مياه أو آبار وخطوط الصرف صحي، وقد تم تدمير جميع الأراضي والطرق بالجرافات. حتى عيادة الأونروا التي تخدم سكان المخيم تم استهدافها. المخيم أصبح غير صالح للسكن.

أكثر من 160 يومًا من الحرب والتشريد

منذ 7 أكتوبر اضطررنا للنزوح من منزلنا 4 مرات، كان آخرها في 12 أكتوبر، ونزحنا إلى منزل خالتي في رفح جنوب قطاع غزة حتى يومنا هذا، حيث يضم المنزل 3 عائلات نازحة أخرى.

أتذكر جيدًا عندما ركضنا جميعًا في حالة هلع بعد وصول إنذار مفاجئ بأن منزل مجاور لنا مهدد بالقصف. أتذكر أنني بقيت في المنزل حتى اللحظة الأخيرة، أجمع ما بوسعي من أغراض، وأحمل حقيبة حاسبي المحمول على ظهري، وحقيبة من الملابس في إحدى يدي، والحقيبة التي وضعت فيها قطتنا في اليد الأخرى. لم أكن أعرف كيف أحمل معي كل أشيائي، ذكرياتي وتذكاراتي، وكتبي، وملابسي، كل قطعة في غرفتي كانت تعني شيئًا بالنسبة لي، ولم أكن أعرف ماذا يتوجب أنا آخذ وماذا أترك على أمل العودة إليه لاحقًا. ركضنا في الشارع، لا نعرف ماذا نفعل أو إلى أين نذهب.

تعاني والدتي (سميرة، 43 عاماً) من اضطراب فرط نشاط الغدة الدرقية وتحتاج إلى جراحة ضرورية.

تم تدمير الشركة المحلية التي كنت أعمل لديها، المبنى بأكمله تدمر حيث تقع الشركة، بالإضافة إلى عشرات الشركات المحلية الأخرى والوكالات الإعلامية ومساحات العمل.

في الأشهر الأخيرة، فقدت أنا وعائلتي مصدر دخلنا. لسوء الحظ.

في الأشهر القليلة التي سبقت الحرب، ادخرت جزءًا من راتبي للعديد من الخطط، مثل شراء جهاز كمبيوتر محمول جديد حتى أتمكن من العمل دون عوائق. لسوء الحظ، بسبب النزوح والحرب، تم إنفاق مدخراتنا على تأمين احتياجاتنا الأساسية، مثل الماء والغذاء.

تم تدمير جامعتي، جامعة الأقصى بفرعيها، فرع خان يونس، الذي كان أكبر حرم جامعي في قطاع غزة، وفرع غزة ؛ يكاد يكون من المستحيل إكمال العملية التعليمية في ظل هذه الظروف.

تم تدمير مدارس أختي منة وإخوتي رامز وعبد الله وخرجوا من الخدمة، مما جعل من الصعب التفكير في إمكانية إكمال تعليمهم حتى بعد توقف الحرب.

قبل السابع من أكتوبر

نظرة على الأطلال

كنت أنا وعائلتي نكافح في ظل ظروف الحياة في قطاع غزة، ونمضي في محاولة عيش حياتنا قدر الإمكان.

كنت أقضي معظم أيامي منغمس في العمل. لقد حاولت تطوير مهاراتي، ومواكبة آخر التحديثات في مجالي، وبناء مسيرتي المهنية خطوة بخطوة.

أتذكر شغفي قبل الحرب بتصوير السماء وغروب الشمس.

والدتي سميرة (43 سنة) طاهية وعضو في نادي الطهاة الفلسطيني ومدربة طبخ.

على الرغم من صعوبات ضعف السمع، إلا أنه لم يمنعها من ممارسة شغفها بالطهي. شاركت في مسابقات في قطاع غزة ووصلت إلى النهائيات. لديها العديد من المتابعين على صفحتها على الانستغرام، حيث كانت تنشر وصفاتها وتشارك ما كانت تصنعه بحب. على الرغم من كل العقبات التي واجهتها، فقد أسست عملها في المنزل، حيث كانت تتلقى طلبات لخبز المعجنات وإعداد الحلويات. كانت تحلم بأن تصبح طاهية محترفة دولية وتظهر في برامج وقنوات الطبخ العالمية.

أختي منة (17 عامًا) طالبة في المدرسة الثانوية، وإخوتي رامز (14 عامًا) وعبد الله (12 عامًا) من طلاب المدارس الإعدادية الذين لم يحلموا بأكثر من حياة طبيعية وآمنة.

الحالة في رفح:

المنطقة مكتظة بشكل هائل، أكثر من 1.5 مليون شخص محشورون في 50 كيلومترا مربعًا.

حالة صحية وطبية متداعية للغاية، حيث لا يوجد مستشفى في رفح لتوفير الخدمات الطبية والصحية.

بيئة خصبة لانتشار الأمراض والأوبئة، ونقص تام في الخدمات الطبية والأدوية، ومياه الشرب ملوثة، ونقص المياه، والشوارع غارقة في الأوساخ والصرف الصحي.

نسمع كل يوم تهديدات مستمرة بأن عملية برية عسكرية في رفح على وشك البدء. وفي كل يوم، نشعر بأن التهديد يقترب أكثر فأكثر، خاصة مع تزايد وتيرة الحرب في رفح في الأسابيع الأخيرة؛ وهذا يجعلنا نشعر بالقلق والخوف بشأن بقائنا ومصيرنا إذا تحققت هذه التهديدات.
