The Fight for Life

My name is Charles Davidson and I have been on dialysis for 5 years now. This fundraiser is my last resort, and was created after much prayer and with very much reluctance.

Until recently Medicaid was paying my Medicare premiums because I did not qualify for disability. Now that this assistance has stopped, we are in a legal battle with Medicaid and Medicare to obtain the documents and information we need to qualify for assistance with Medicare premiums through the American Kidney Fund.

However, we had no idea that this information was not something either entity was willing or able to provide. My Medicare insurance will be canceled on January 31st if the premiums are not paid in full and posted by January 25th. If this happens, I will no longer be able to afford to do dialysis.

Currently, the medicare premiums are $1500 and if we can't get the information we need we cannot get assistance now or moving forward with the premiums.

Long story short, we are running out of time.

We are trying to buy some time to continue this fight, but we will have to pay out of pocket for astronomical dialysis and medication costs.

We are already struggling to afford the medical bills that keep piling up now and there is no way we can afford $35,000 a week out of pocket for dialysis treatments.

Any donation is appreciated and every dialysis treatment is an opportunity for me to live to fight another day.
