Wapekeka First Nation is a small fly in community located in northern Ontario with a population of approximately 500 people. This community has persevered through many hardships over time and continue to do so with strength and resiliency. Along with the breath taking scenery that Wapekeka has to offer comes the daily challenges of living in isolation with harsh weather conditions and an expensive cost of living.
For many of these students, leaving Wapekeka means flying out for a medical visit. With your help, we are offering them a trip of leisure to learn, adapt, explore, cope and grow. This trip prepares them for tomorrow and builds their confidence. After graduation, the grade 8's will move to different towns or cities for high school as there are none in Wapekeka at the moment. This trip helps them transition as they observe all of the future opportunities life can offer.
Each person has a story and by funding this trip, you are writing part of a chapter in the lives of these children that they will always remember.
A trip to Toronto is inspiring and life changing!
Things to look forward to:
-Experiencing city life in downtown Toronto
-Team building activities that develop self confidence and promote healthy friendships
-Adrenaline rush at Wonderland to face fears and try new things
-Learning about Canada's diversity and celebrating our differences
-Tasting new foods and visiting different cultural neighbourhoods
-Exploring Niagara Falls
-Navigating the city by bus, subway and streetcar
-Visiting historical sights studied throughout the school year
-Hiking nature trails just outside the busy city
These students matter. Help create memories for a lifetime!
