Move a Veteran to a Farm!
After ten years in the military and fourteen working in a manufacturing plant, my dream has been to live a quieter life; one of growing things, sharing knowledge, supporting community, and rooting my sons in rich soil. As I have leaned outside of my comfort zone, I have been warmly welcomed into the embrace of community. I am so grateful for all the beautiful souls that grace my life. Thank you thank you thank you!
One of those beautiful souls has offered space for nurturing my dream and my sons on her spacious farm on Sauvie Island. We are building community and the Wapato Island Way organic farm, place of ceremony, and retreat. With my Sustainable MBA and concentration in Food Systems Management, I will be enabled to apply this knowledge and assist in the sustainable growth of our food, herbs, and community. My heart is bursting with love and gratefulness for this opportunity. The boys and I spent time on the farm planting the first of the three sisters on May 23. The boys had such a great time playing with all the other children in our community. Fills me with joy just to hold that memory of their joy.
And this is where I must state my need: my plan is to build a base platform and install a large tent to accomodate my family. The tent that I know will work well through the seasons and provide enough space for real living conditions has a price tag that is currently out of reach.
I wish to purchase a Cabela's Ultimate Alaknak Tent that is 13' x 27', offering 351 sqft of living space. This tent costs $1,599.99, with an additional $259.98 for the Tent Floor Liner and Roof Panel Protector ($1,859.97 total). Here is a link to the tent: Ultimate Alaknak 13x27 .
I am asking for help raising $2,222 to construct the base platform, purchase and install the tent, finish a small storage area, and get fully moved to the farm. With your help, I can fulfill my dream! If there are 111.1 people out there that can offer $20 each, I will have enough funds to begin my move immediately.
I will be able to use a small RV for kitchen, shower, and bathroom facilities, but it is entirely too small to house me, the boys, and the furkids.
I am grateful for any assistance offered. Thank you thank you thank you!
