Megan Boettcher's Cancer Fund
Donation protected
This is Timberly, I am fundraising for my 34 year old sister, Megan Boettcher. She was recently diagnosed with cancer and celiac disease. She lives and works in Brookings with her boyfriend and two young children. What an emotional roller coaster it has been for all of us. We love her so much, and just want the best possible outcome! We have no idea how much expenses will accumulate, but are thankful for anything you are willing to donate. We are hoping to gain enough funds for her travel expenses, medical expenses, and time lost from work for both her and Cory. She posted her story recently which I will share below. We plan to also keep people updated via Caring Bridge or GoFundMe updates. Since her post, she has found out that it did spread to some lymph nodes and part of her liver, which will need to be partially removed eventually. She will start chemo treatments after Christmas every other Monday in Watertown, and then take a box home which will connect to a port in her chest for another 48 hour of chemo treatments at home following her Monday treatments. Here is her story in her own words:
.
I have cancer.
It still feels so unreal to actually say it out loud. But here we are. It’s all too real. And all we can do is go through it!
On December 1st I had a colonoscopy and EGD done to confirm I have Celiac Disease; which it did. Unfortunately they also found that I have Cancer. Stage 4 Colorectal Cancer. Scans have showed that it has spread to some lymph nodes and to my liver. Chemo, radiation, and surgery will be in my future. But we’re gonna fight it like hell!
It has been a COMPLETE whirlwind since finding out, but Cory has been my rock and by my side through it all. Family and friends have been so supportive already, and I really really appreciate all the thoughts and prayers being sent our way. I will begin treatment in a couple weeks and will try to post updates here throughout our journey.
The first photo below was taken moments after getting the news from the doctor. I share it because it shows my raw emotions and how much cancer just frickin sucks. I took it because i want to look back at it when I’m Cancer free and know how strong I was to get through this, and ALL that I have to fight for. And the next photo is from today. Today brought hope and love and light and strength. Today I know that it will all be okay.

Cancer may have started the fight, but I will finish it.
