Backstory

Hi!  My name is Diana Diaz.  I thought of Wanting Whiskers when I needed to re-home my dog Gigi, after a divorce. She deserved someone who could give her more time and attention than I could. She loved kids, walks, and water play. The problem was, I did not have anywhere to go to find a good home for her. I wanted to be sure I could share her likes and dislikes with the new owner.  A shelter was not an option. 


Where could a loving owner find a great match for their pet? Where could I find someone looking for a dog like Gigi? Wanting Whiskers was created to solve this problem. I want to match pets with people - without having to place pets into a shelter.  


Do you need a lazy dog? A road Dog? A cat that loves to cuddle? What better place to learn about your new pet then directly from the previous owner?  Wanting Whiskers emphasizes the animals personality not just on breed and look of an animal.  


We believe when matched properly, we can reduce the amount of pets placed into a shelter and improve the re-homing experience between pets and their owners.  Both the pet and the pet owner are traumatized when the shelter becomes the only option.  Wanting Whiskers will save an animal from the trauma and loneliness of a shelter, and sadly sometime euthanasia.

App Experience


There is no app in the market that properly matches pets with people.  Current pet services that provide adoption and rehoming experiences are boring, lack creativity and have a frustrating user experience.  Because they are clunky and hard to navigate, few people use them - which means pets are more likely to end up in a shelter.  This problem goes away with Wanting Whiskers.


Wanting Whiskers provides a high quality user interface that simplifies the interaction between the pet owner and the person searching for a pet.  When posting a pet, you are able to utilize video, music and text to bring out the personality of your pet to the public.  No more boring pictures and videos.  You will be able to share your pet in the best possible context; while experiencing fun, energetic and entertaining pet moments from the community.


Communication between the pet owner and the pet enthusiast is easy.  With one click, you are matched with the pet owner and able to begin communicating about the pet, the process of transition and payment details.  Wanting Whiskers makes the match, it's up to you and the pet owner to do the rest.  


The Price of the pet is set at a $15 minimum to ensure all pets are less easily used for "food or fighting" practices.  You the owner, set the price of the animal.  You only pay when a small service fee when you have a demand to connect with a pet owner (if you are in need of a pet) or a person who has a home (if you are in need to rehome your pet).

Wanting Whiskers is founded by Diana Diaz.  She leads the mission and vision of the organization. Her love and empathy for animals has provided valuable market insights and driven the app features required for success.


To bring Diana's dream to life, she reached out to a childhood friend, Jonathan Hoeflinger - who is the Founder and President of Sharemeister. Sharemeister is a community building platform that helps organizations like Wanting Whiskers take ownership of its digital application. It is responsible for design, development & integration of software services to support the asset - including building the marketing campaign to promote Wanting Whiskers.


Through the partnership with an experienced team of world-class marketers, designers and engineers, Diana has created a fully designed user interface app experience that is READY for development.  The final step of the process requires funding the hard costs to develop the application and then market Wanting Whiskers to the public - beginning with this crowdfund campaign.
