Wanting to help others on their recovery journey

Donation protected
I'm Grant, I'm 33 years young. I'm a proud dad to 2 daughters ages 6 and 11.

I love to be outside and spend time with family and friends, playing golf and walking my dog.

Back in June 2022, I sustained a brain injury from a head trauma whilst working in my garden. This has greatly affected my mobility, and I have had to relearn how to walk and use my right arm.

I would like to give something back to those who saved my life with their quick response and actions, and to those who have helped me with my recovery. Also I would like to help those who at the beginning of their brain injury recovery journey, and help them proceed with the incredible help and support that I am receiving.

In order to do this I am going to walk from Boscombe Pier to Bournemouth Pier, on May 10th at a distance of 1.6 miles, to raise funds to give back to the Dorset Air Ambulance and Portland Ward - Poole Hospital.

Mine and my family's life got turned upside down that day, and I continue to work hard towards my ongoing recovery with the support of therapists and skilled support staff.

Please note: The donations will be transferred to a family account then given directly to the Dorset Air Ambulance and Portland Ward - Poole Hospital. I can't wait to be able to meet them and give them your wonderful donations that will be of such help to others.

UPDATE - I DID IT!
Thank you to everyone who has helped me and donated to two charities that are very important to me. The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and the Acquired Brain Injury unit in Portland Ward at Poole Hospital. I would also love to thank Eilat rehabilitation home and all their members of staff especially Marie, Mikey, Jessica, Corben, Mark and Emily. Also Hobbs for their fantastic physio and occupational therapy team, and everyone who has made my journey possible. This has been a very hard week for myself and the family. Thank you to everyone who has helped me through this week. Dad would have been watching over me whilst I was undertaking the walk. - Grant

Well what an amazing day yesterday ! I am so proud of my son Grant. He absolutely smashed his sponsored walk from Boscombe Pier to Bournemouth Pier, 1.6 miles. He used his four wheeled walker and stormed it completing it in one and a half hours !!!!!! He has so far exceeded his original target of £500 by £4575 . We are so grateful to every single person who has donated. It is an astounding amount of money which will be divided equally between the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and the Portland Ward brain injury unit at Poole Hospital. Massive thanks to Marie and Mikey and all the staff at the rehabilitation home Grant has been staying at since 5th December. Your organisation and support has been incredible. Also to Jo and Rachel from the Hobbs physiotherapy team who prepped Grant and accompanied him on the walk. The gofundme page will stay active until the end of next week when it will be closed and the money raised will be divided between the two great causes mentioned above which are close to all of our hearts. Once again, massive thanks to every single person who has donated. It means so much ❤️ ❤️❤️.
