Help Bethel Lutheran Home provide care to seniors

I used to think a nursing home was a place people went to spend their final days. Then I started working at Bethel Lutheran Home in Madison, SD and realized that Bethel is a place where people come to live. Our residents are joyful, optimistic, humorous, and deserving of the very best we can provide.

Nursing homes across South Dakota are closing at an alarming rate. We are weathering the storm at Bethel but it is fraught with challenges, not the least of which is the cost differential in providing the care these residents need and the reimbursement rate from South Dakota's Medicaid. It's complicated, but the bottom line is the Bethel Foundation provides funding for the gaps not covered by other sources. And we need help.

We ask that you consider donating to Bethel. Your gifts will be used for items that make life safer and more comfortable for our residents. Private funding is used to purchase air mattresses, lift and transfer equipment, and specialized rehabilitation items. We also use your gifts to purchase bedspreads and curtains for resident rooms, miscellaneous items including candy, nail polish and recreational items used by our Activities Department.
