Hi, my name is Sandy Miller and I am fundraising because I want to complete my Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology. I am currently attending Yorkville University online doing a 2 and half year degree program. I have just completed my first year where I have paid my full tuition for the first year out of my pocket because I was getting a lot of overtime shifts for a number of years and I was able to save this tuition fees for the first year of my program. However, at this current time, my program manager has cut back on the overtime shifts because they said that it is too expensive to pay out so they have hired a lot of new part-time staff to fill these shifts at regular pay. Therefore, I have not been able to save for my tuition fees coming September 2026 trimester. The school fees have also increased. I have a great passion in wanting to complete this degree, as I want to become a psychotherapist/counsellor/therapist to support the various and diverse communities that will need my supports. I have a great passion wanting to help people especially those struggling with mental health and addiction and trauma. My lived experiences of some of the issues that clients will bring forward in my counselling/therapy session will greatly help my clients and I will be of great service to them. The funds will be used to pay off the remainder of my tuition fees, as I do not want to have to withdraw from my studies at the university because I do not have money to pay for my tuition fees.
