Thank you for visiting my page

My name is Wangari
I am the sole proprietor of Fahari Records Inc. a socially responsible, black female-owned independent music company. As a Kenyan-born American vocalist, performing artist, and composer, my songs celebrate diversity, champion humanitarian values, and embrace kindness.
As a result of the COVID-19 “Cancel Culture”, I have experienced a 90% loss of income since March 2020 due to performance cancellations and lack of CD sales (sold at venues).  Undeterred in raising my voice. I continued recording my 4th CD, WANGARI, in June 2020. A diverse collaboration of over 30 artists, whose livelihood depends upon music companies like mine. However, COVID-19 has also created uncertainties in the music industry, with key investors cautiously withholding back production funds for the post-production of my latest CD.

Having come this far in negotiating collaborations and recordings, I am asking for your financial support to help me see this CD through to its release date June 21st, 2021. I aim to raise $15,000 for final production and marketing costs by April 15th, 2021
Every dollar that you give will help to support the many independent performing artists, cinematographers, producers, designers and music engineers who have partnered with me on this CD and campaign expenses.

About Me
Most of the songs in this CD are about breaking free and turning scars into stars. I experienced homelessness as a youth growing up in Nairobi and I know first hand how hard it is to be without protection and provisions, especially for a female child. My voice is inspired by the 60,000 homeless children still living in the streets of Nairobi, Kenya. As a humanitarian, I seek to bring light, through songs and stories, onto the plight of the street children of Nairobi, as well as in other cities and countries throughout Africa. In tribute, my songs are written in Kiswahili, the bridge language of my diverse and beautiful Mother Country, Kenya.

I have had respectable mentors such as Civil rights activist Miriam Makeba and Mother of Folk Joan Baez, became a brand ambassador for Crocodile River Music and have worked with NGOs such as Creative Action Institute, Africa Community Education, American World Jewish Service, Global Peace Train and Artists For Wildlife Conservation. I feel blessed to be able to bring people together for some good music and a great cause. People have frequently told me how much they enjoyed our unique blend of music. Even more fulfilling is the knowledge that their joyful moment with us also helps to raise awareness and funding to aid the street children in Africa.

As the founder of Fahari Records Inc promoting African arts and culture in North America is my impetus. Producing successful world class events and while creating several African cultural exchange programs. To nurture artists social and economic development. While providing our audience with wonderful content with a great a cause.

My upcoming CD is scheduled to be released on June 21st, 2021.
