Wandering Berlin

Hi, my name is Ben and I'm a street photographer based in Berlin. Originally from Australia, I moved to Berlin to pursue my photography. I have a photography project called Wandering Berlin. This name comes from a number of places. One, I spend a lot of time wandering the streets myself with my photography, and secondly, Wandering is another name for homeless people. Wandering Berlin is a photodocumentary interviewing the homeless and helping them to become, not someone that most of us would turn our noses up at, but to give them identities and hopefully giving them an avenue to improve their life through donations or by people reaching out to me to provide jobs and in a perfect world, getting them off the streets. No one deserves to have to live there.

In Berlin, there is an estimated 10,000 homeless people wandering the streets or living under bridges and overpasses. My goal is a lofty one and I'm realistic that I won't be able to reach all of those 10,000 but 5 Euros for one of them is a start. I am also realistic that 5 Euros won't make much of an impact on their life so creating a place for them to live or to provide rehabilitation from substance abuse is the bigger goal.

In Australia, the government doesn't too much to help the homeless there and they have always been interesting to me, so I am taking on this giant mission to help my community here in Berlin as best I can. There's that saying, be the change you want to see.
