THE STORY OF US
Hello there everyone!! Maritza, aka Mari over here, aka one half of this wedding on wheels/business extravaganza! Flip is the other half, I'm the better half... heehee, jk. After an intense 5 year relationship, this past February, Flip decided to pop THE question in the middle of a public talk he gave at Nerd Nite Miami in a room FULL of family, friends and complete strangers, and I barely said yes ('cause I couldn't even breathe from how surprised and excited I was).

It all started when I made our paths cross at our mutual friend Klee's birthday gathering at a then local hot spot restaurant Mercadito. As soon as I saw him, I knew I needed to know more about him. Having just come out of a very difficult divorce from my high school sweetheart, I had no idea what the dating world was like, I had never dated! I gathered the courage to go up and talk to... the couple seated next to him (lol). Luckily, he overheard our conversation, liked what he heard, and we exchanged information... so it began!
THE JOURNEY
The years have thrown at us their share of good times and bad as with any relationship and we've managed to come out of them better and stronger together. This past year has been quite the challenging one when Flip supported my decision to help my best friend by becoming her surogate and carrying her and her husband's baby for them... yes, you read that right, this man agreed and stood by me during a pregnancy that wasn't ours.
If it wasn't for him, I would've never made it through, hormones are no joke! Our treat at the end of that journey was to let baby bond with his parents while we reconnected with each other on a much needed 5 week European vacation. Even this getaway wasn't without it's difficulties though as I ended up needing a cesarian section and my health wasn't 100% but, we made it! Not only did we make it, we realized how much joy experiencing the world around us gave us!
Shortly after our return, tragedy struck and I got word that my son's father passed unexpectedly. This was a shock to everyone as he was only 39. It was a challenging time with mixed emotions for me as he and I had a rocky relationship after the divorce and I hadn't seen him in over 6 years. I even fell ill and was hospitalized. But, have no fear, Flip again to save the day! He was there for my son and I in all that we could possibly need. Time and time again proving his love for me in actions more than words.
A few short months after this unfortunate incident, January 2017, I was laid off from my corporate job. It seemed like things were stuck in a bad cycle, one obstacle after the other. We always manage to make the best of things though and I opened my own business and have been exploring entrepreneurship. Then, in February, he propsed!!! Our story will grow deeper!
THE IDEA
Even before the question was asked, we had spoken casually about what a wedding would be like for the two of us. This would be both our second go at it and neither of us are the conventional type. We don't need presents nor do we want to burden our friends and family with the cost of being in a formal bridal party, instead, let's have an experience together!! THIS is what we need YOUR help with!!
We are planning to have an amazing 5 week wedding/honeymoon jouney via RV touring our amazing National Parks! It's true, this is our dream!! We will post our itinerary for all our friends and family to know where we will be, when we will be there and what activities we have planned for that section of the trip. They will get to decide for themselves where they'd like to join us to be a part of it. We'll have some extra room in the RV as well as a couple of tents for their use if they'd like to stay with us. At the different parks we will have mini ceremonies performed by friends, attended by whoever chose the destination of that time and videoed so that when complete, we have them all edited together to have a watch party back home for those that weren't able to join and still would like to share in our experience!
We originally planned to rent an RV but after much research found BUYING one would actually be a lot more cost effecient, believe it or not. Which brings me to the business side of the wedding. We buy an RV, fix it up real nice and rent it out when not in use to share our love of travel, adventure and the outdoors to others! I would love for this business idea to grow into a small fleet of RV's and even be able to offer different travel packages for different occassions. Sharing something that we are so passionate about is a recipe for success!
HOW YOU CAN HELP
The funds we raise will go towards the purchase of the small travel trailer style RV we've chosen (#supercute and super popular), insurance and storage for a year. Part of the funds will also go into making it stand out against competition, making it more attractive for renters. Our goal is to purchase the RV by mid June 2017 as we already have rental inquiries for it we'd like to fulfill and start the business part of this adventure before the actual wedding takes place Summer 2018.
I'll be starting a blog on all my planning for this to share with everyone and keep you all up-to-date and posted. Be sure to check it out regularly!
