We took Wanda Lou in back in July at only 10 weeks old. She came with what we thought was a chronic upper respiratory condition. We tried antibiotics, breathing treatments, testing and x-rays with no answers. I had made an appointment with a specialist, which was still two weeks away.

A trip to the ER on Thursday showed that she had a massive growth that started in her nasal cavity and was now blocking her airway.

While the doctors were removing the mass, Wanda coded and died.

Due to the quick actions of her medical team, and Wanda's will to live, they were able to being her back to life. Her blindness from the lack of oxygen quickly dissipated and she has almost no symptoms of neurological damage.

Her hospital bill was a little over $3200.

Fortunately, I was able to qualify for the $5000 required deposit for her critical care and ICU admission through Care Credit.

We took in 7 kittens this season (4 unintentionally). Veterinary bills have been astronomical, but we manage. If you know my son, then you know that our animals are family, and when Wanda showed she wanted to live, well, we went all in.

I struggled with asking for donations, and came to a compromise:

Her bill was $3200.

I am listing my goal as $1200, which is half of her bill minus a $100 stipend I should be receiving for a meeting I attended for a student with Tourette, and the $300 I will be receiving soon for my Election Judge pay for the election this week.

So, in Lara math, $1200 sounds about right.
