This is set up for my husband of almost 25 years, Walter Glenn Mapp Jr (Glenn), who is 55 years old. He has been fighting some kind of skin cancer for the past 13 years. 2 years ago, he was diagnosed with Melanoma in his lungs. We were in shock, as he had only had 1 small melanoma on his back that was removed in 2003 and we were told that it was in the early stages and we didn't have anything else to worry about on that one. Unfortunately, we now know that melanoma is never completely gone. Our oncologist, who is tops in the field of melanoma, said that it will show up again sometime in your life, and most probably internal. He is now considered as having Stage 4 metastatic melanoma with tumors in both of his lungs, his back, chest and right arm. They have tried several types of treatments, but have been unable to eradicate it. He has had his ups and downs with treatments, one of which caused his pituitary gland to be damaged and he now has Addison's disease, as well as cancer. He is the loving father of 5 children: Amanda 33, Blayne 22, Devin 21, Ian 18 and Camron 16. He also has 3 grandchildren, Sammie 12, Kayla 10, and Stacy 1 , in addition to 9 siblings, and numerous other family members who love him deeply. With everything going on, the numerous hospital visits, the constant battle against this disease, I've been having to take Family Leave from work to watch and care for Glenn. He underwent a new trial, and showed promising signs, however, in cancer's case, sometimes good comes with bad, and that is what happened. Glenn's quality of living shot down severely when his appetite shot back down, his hands and feet swollen painfully to the point where he describes the pain of walking as breaking all his bones in his feet with every step. With my family leave, comes a low amount of income and low financial stability. We're using this GoFundMe to help pay for the costs of living, raising two children (Ian graduates in May), and to help Glenn improve his quality of life any way we can. Thank you for your time and support. It means more to us than you could ever think to know.
