Walter’s Pelvis-Hip Surgery
Donation protected
Hello, I’m Sara. I’m coming here for help to provide surgery for my dog. His name is Walter, he’s very energetic and loves to run. He’s a big part of my family. The other night, I let him outside to use the bathroom, and I will say Walter is a dog that has never been leashed. I have let him roam freely for the past 3 years. I heard him at the door, and it sounded like a cry. I ran and opened the door; he limped inside, and I saw both of his legs were cut open, and he had a hard time walking. I immediately took him to the closest ER vet. After 24 hours, pain medicine, and some staples, we unfortunately found out he broke his pelvis and part of the ball joint on his hip. This little guy most likely got hit by a car and walked home in a lot of pain. My deepest regret is not leashing him or at least monitoring him outside.
The initial visit to the ER was pricey, and now he’s needing surgery to ensure he can run and walk normally again. I was originally quoted 9500 dollars. After a couple of other surgeons reviewed his X-rays and current condition, they have changed the plan to correct the problem with his walking, and this will cost 3500 dollars.
I am asking for help to not further cause more troubles on my family. I have recently booked our first trip and can’t cancel to get the money back. Our first trip in over 3 years.
Wally is currently on bed rest and is either caged or in a small pen to limit his mobility. He cannot eat, drink, or go to the bathroom on his own. He cannot stand without help. I appreciate anything and really hope for the best when it comes to Walter. I love him very dearly.
update: thank you all for the help and support. All donations were used to help pay Walter’s vet bills. I appreciate the referrals for care credit this has helped me as well. For now he is still in bed rest till his pelvis heals. He has had his staples removed and his bruising has faded. He has got more energy back and seems a bit more like himself. For now I have paused donations until further intervention is needed. He’s being reevaluated in a few weeks after consistent bed rest.
