Walter Monroe Williams Medical Fund

Donation protected

The family of Walter Monroe Williams set up this site to make it easy for family members and friends to contribute funds to help defray the costs of Monroe's medical care and rehabilitation not covered by insurance.

Monroe is the 24-year-old son of Dwight Williams and Susan Decker Williams of Rockingham, NC, and brother of Hillary Williams of Durham, NC. Monroe sustained critical injuries from an accident in his pickup truck on November 25, 2016, and was treated at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC until his transfer to the Shepherd Center hospital in Atlanta on January 10, 2017.

Monroe suffered brain trauma and his left arm was severely injured as a result of the accident; however, a world class team of doctors, nurses and physical therapists at CMC provided Monroe with around-the-clock care and he has made great strides in his recovery. The next phase of Monroe's rehab journey will take place at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, which specializes in medical treatment and rehabilitation for people with brain injury and is ranked among the top 10 rehabilitation hospitals in the nation.

Since the day of Monroe's accident we have turned to our faith for refuge and peace, asking everyone to join us in praying to God that He will heal Monroe and undergird our family throughout what we know will be a challenging journey spanning many months or longer.

Monroe is an employee of Overton Body Shop in Southern Pines and a graduate of Nashville Auto Diesel College in Nashville, TN. He is also a graduate of Richmond County Senior High School in Rockingham, where he was a member of the varsity football team and served as president of his senior class. He is an Eagle Scout and an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Rockingham, where his Dad serves as pastor. Monroe is a beloved member of the Williams and Decker families, which with his wide circle of friends, have been touched in special ways by Monroe's big heart and loving spirit.

We are truly grateful for the boundless support of our family,  friends and the amazing doctors and medical staff at CMC. You have showered us with love and and lifted up Monroe and our family through your prayers, visits, calls and cards.  Please keep us in your prayers as we transition Monroe to Shepherd Center.

We thank you for your continued concern, prayers and gifts. Monroe's sister Hillary has been designated beneficiary of this account and will withdraw funds as needed by Monroe and her parents to be used on his behalf.
