This Go Fund Me is to help offset the cost not covered by insurance, as well as to help cover the loss of income sustained by the long term hospitalization of Walter B. Huckaby.
On June 8, Walter B. Huckaby was taken to Washington hospital in Fremont, CA for a fall. It was quickly discovered that he had had multiple strokes and while there he suffered congestive heart failure twice, which had him moved to ICU. This is where he stayed for two and a half weeks. While there he suffered complete heart failure but was revived after the sixth attempt with a defibrillator. While intubated his whole stay in the ICU, he developed Pneumonia in both his lungs, which delayed treatment.
He has now been moved to a regular room and as of the time of this writing, he will be having surgery to have a new pacemaker put in on Thursday, June 28. The plan is then to place him in a nursing facility for at least two weeks, for which his insurance does not cover.
This has hit our family very hard and promises to continue to do so for the foreseeable future. If you are able, we would appreciate any donations, no matter how small. Anything and everything helps at this point. Thank you for all your time and for all your thoughts and prayers. Sincerely, The Huckaby family.
