In Loving Memory of Walter Alan Novello: Memorial Service & After Life Expenses Fund
My name is Rachel Marcotte, and I’m raising money on behalf of my father Walter Alan Novello. Walter passed suddenly from cardiovascular disease and was found deceased on the 14th of January during a welfare check by his friend and members of the New Haven Police Department, after not answering phone calls for a few days. I am raising money for some necessary after-life expenses including cremation and a memorial service.
My dad was my best friend and the hardest-working person I know, whether working as a pressman or a bartender. Walter could appear reserved, but he was kind, loving, insightful, and amusing.
He had a tough life, but he was unwavering in his love for others and willing to make huge sacrifices for them.
Unfortunately, the cost of funeral services is more than I can cover alone during this difficult time. Actually, I have no money whatsoever. All donations will be used directly for Walter’s funeral expenses. Costs include the medical examiner fees, transportation of the body, cremation and mailing of the ashes. I would also love to gather others who loved Walter for a memorial service in New Haven. The total costs are approximately $2,000. (I’ve done the actual math, and posted the service/price list in an update, and the total cost will be around $1890)
Since my dad’s passing, I have been looking back on all the times we spent together. He used to visit me every weekend and we’d go to Goodwill and just chat as we went through the racks of clothes until we found something cool. I remember the small things, like his complaint that fruit shouldn’t be in salsa. (What did he think tomatoes were??) He wisely told me to take care of business first and then have my fun after. I remember at Christmas, he used to have me bag all the toys I no longer wanted. He would bring them to the nearby hospital and donate them to the children’s ward. A lot of kids mistook him for Santa Claus.
My dad was always so proud of me just for being the person I am, showing me true unconditional love.
Now I need help to take care of the expenses and honor him as he deserved.
Any contribution, no matter how small, means the world to me. Even if you are unable to donate, sharing this campaign would be a great help.
