Walter was working as a barber, he decided to go for lunch on Wednesday morning when ICE chased and kidnapped him. Now, he is facing deportation, torture and mistreatment at Broadview facility in Illinois. The money will go towards his legal fees and worst case scenario to help him begin his life again in Guatemala.

He was well knows by his neighbors and clients in the Ukrainian Village Community, he helped those who couldn’t and would participate in a lot of non profit and free events where free haircuts were given. He was a friend, brother and son, kind and thoughtful human being. While his human rights were violated he still stands strong and hope that his clean record and integrity will prevail in this case.

Walter trabajaba como barbero y decidió ir a almorzar el miércoles por la mañana cuando ICE lo persiguió y secuestró. Ahora enfrenta la deportación, la tortura y el maltrato en las instalaciones de Broadview en Illinois. El dinero se destinará a sus gastos legales y, en el peor de los casos, a ayudarlo a rehacer su vida en Guatemala. Era muy conocido por sus vecinos y clientes de la comunidad de Ukrainian Village; ayudaba a quienes no podían y participaba en numerosos eventos gratuitos y sin fines de lucro donde se ofrecían cortes de pelo gratuitos. Era un amigo, hermano e hijo, un ser humano amable y considerado. Aunque sus derechos humanos fueron violados, se mantiene firme y con esperanza que su historial limpio e integridad prevalezcan en este caso.
