Last Saturday, we brought home the sweetest 9 week old Golden boy, Wally. In just a few short days, he completely stole our hearts. He was at the vet on Tuesday for a wellness check and some vaccines, with no concerns apart from a little diarrhea. What we thought was normal puppy stomach upset due to environment and food changes, quickly turned into every new puppy owner’s nightmare when he tested positive for parvo on Friday. A devastating and highly contagious virus that puppies can sometimes already be incubating before they ever go to their new homes.

He is currently hospitalized receiving 24-hour critical care. Over the past few days, he has needed intensive treatment including IV fluids, medications, the new monoclonal antibody treatment, blood and plasma transfusions, and constant monitoring as he fights this virus. His veterinary team truly believes we caught it early, and he is continuing to fight hard every single day.

Watching such a little puppy go through something this serious has been absolutely heartbreaking. We would do anything to give him the best possible chance to recover, and right now his medical bills have already reached nearly $10,000 and are expected to continue rising as he remains in critical care.
