Wally Fighting to Live & Beat Double Hit Lymphoma
Wally and Loraine are in an epic fight to save Wally’s life and need help with the costs involved in treating Wally’s diagnosis with Double Hit Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma, a very aggressive type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
Wally and I are not ones to ever ask for help, especially financially. But we realize that no one fights alone and are calling on our widespread community to help us get through this challenging time by donating a few dollars to help with the unplanned medical and ancillary expenditures we are facing. With Wally’s immune system compromised and the COVID-19 pandemic, these costs are exacerbated, as both Wally and I are homebound for his protection.
Would you help relieve some of the burden associated Wally’s fighting cancer? A few dollars can help buy a meal or cover the cost of his treatments (including holistic), travel and living expenses at a time when Wally’s focus should be 100% on winning the fight to beat cancer.
Wally’s long-term treatment plan will last months and include several cycles of chemotherapy, followed by an Autologous Stem Cell Transplant (high dose chemotherapy, followed by a bone marrow transplant). During his treatment, Wally will be at Kaiser and both out-patient and in-patient at City of Hope in Los Angeles for five to eight weeks or more. This will be followed by months of recovery.
As many of you know, Wally is a “Legend” to many and a very recognizable figure in the paddling, lifeguard, running and Ironman communities. He inspires others by his determination and never give up attitude. For years Wally has been helping others. He is an influential member of the Ocean of Hope Paddleboard Team, creating awareness and raising money to support the sea of people affected by cancer. Now it is our turn to support and help Wally.
Wally is determined to fight and beat his cancer. Although he has a long tough road ahead of him, he will not give up. Fighting an illness requires mental, emotional, and physical strength, along with money — a lot of it. Wally has the support of family and hundreds of friends in his widespread community, and he WILL beat cancer a second time! Please consider helping us financially through this ordeal (along with this GoFundMe, we've also set up a benefit account for Wally at Mission Federal Bank, so feel free to contact us direct for that information). Let Wally know that no one fights alone!
Thank you for taking the time to read this, help Wally and me, and support us in any way you can. It means the world to Wally and me. We appreciate and are grateful for everyone’s prayers, thoughts, kind words, encouragement, pushups and more. It helps more than words can describe.
