Growing up as a black man in America these stories that have recently come to light are nothing new. There have been nights where I myself have wondered if someone would call the cops on me because I did not look like I belonged. There have been times where I have had interactions with the cops and wondered if this was my final day. I have lived my life in fear of the police and of racist individuals looking to take my life. I have had enough and I refuse to let my children live in the same fear.
The events that have led up to the current levels of social unrest have been horrifying and eye opening for many Americans. The nightmare that Black families have told to their children has again reared its head from the shadows - exposing the fact that America has failed the black community. If you are tired of the same broken promises and are looking for a way to enact real change join me in supporting organizations that can help make this situation right. In partnership with Steven Phan we have created a wallpaper to show support and will be accepting donations for those who can give. These donations will be going to the following organizations:
Equal Justice Initiative
Live Free via Faith in Action Network
National Association For The Advancement of Colored People
Center for Policing Equity
By donating, it would show me and others that you stand with us in our fight for equality. It would mean you want to stop the tragic stories black families have to tell their children about police brutality. It would mean you are anti-racist and you do not support the systematic hunting and killing of Black Americans. It would mean that you can see through the chaos and see a community that has been abused. This is your chance to decide where you stand and how you will show up to stop the attacks against the black community.
