Wallingford Vikings Cheer Nationals

The Wallingford Vikings are very pleased to announce that the D12 and D14 Competitive Cheer squads have each secured a spot to attend and compete at the AYC National Cheerleading Championship in Kissimmee Florida on December 7-11 2016. What an honor it is to not only be part of this organization, but to send not 1 but 2 teams to a prestigious event such as this.
This journey has been amazing and unprecedented. What started out as 1 team of 16, 9 – 13 year olds, has gone through a division into 2 teams of 8 girls each and a competitive schedule that has been super successful, reaching new heights for the Wallingford Vikings Cheer program.
This year AYC changed the qualification rules so that State Cheerleading competitions will be the qualifier for the Regional competition. What this meant is that Cheer teams now had to earn the right to advance. Fortunately, the Viking D12 and D14 teams have passed each of the tests in order to advance.
Our girls were successful at the Shoreline Youth Football and Cheer (SYFC) local competition in Branford on Oct. 15th :
· 1st: D14, D12
Then at States in New Haven CT on Nov 5th:
· 2nd: D12
· 3rd: D14
And now at Regionals in Hartford CT on Nov. 19th:
· 2nd: D12 (actually tied for first but lost by 1.5 points when scores were broken down element)
· 3rd: D14
When AYC told the Vikings back in September that we could not compete as one team, we took the news with heavy hearts and made a commitment to each other and the organization that we would be successful by getting even with AYC for dividing our team. And we did just that!! We are going to Nationals as 2 teams despite their rejection of our request to be as one.
In support of our Competitive Cheerleading program, we are asking for your support to help our competition cheerleading teams to reach Florida.
