We are long-time friends of Kat and Jon, and their sweet son Harley, who is 3, is struggling with bowel issues.

Harley went into the hospital on Tuesday, 7/22, as he has been super constipated. After several days of no movement, he had to have emergency surgery on Friday, 7/25. He had a kink in one part of his bowel and a hard, golf ball-sized stool blocking another area. He currently has an ileostomy bag to help with passing stool as well as an appendicostomy, also known as a Malone. The appendix is attached to the abdominal wall and a tube goes thru his belly button, thru the appendix, to the colon to allow for flushes that will help keep the colon healthy. They are concerned he may have other issues with his bowels that caused the emergent constipation.

After surgery, he started making progress eating, but has taken a step back and can no longer have solid food and now needs IV nutrition (TPN). This, in turn, is causing him to be in the hospital even longer than expected. Kat is now having to take a leave of absence from work, which of course, is unpaid and adds to the financial burden.

We are hoping that this GoFundMe can help with medical expenses and daily living expenses while Kat is on leave. Also, please be praying for them as they navigate this change in their life.
