Many of you know or have met our family dog, WALL-E. If you have, then you know how playful, cuddly, handsome (and a little needy) he is.

We’re reaching out with hopeful hearts to ask for help for our sweet boy. We recently found out WALL-E needs urgent eye surgery to prevent permanent vision loss.

Back in August of last year, we noticed a small bump on WALL-E’s left eye. At first, it didn’t seem to bother him. But over time, it began to grow, eventually leading to a painful infection in January. WALL-E could barely open his eye and had pus draining down his face. Our vet prescribed antibiotics, a steroid cream, and eye wash. Thankfully, the infection cleared up for a time.

Our vet strongly recommended that the bump be removed and tested to rule out cancer. But as many of you know, vet bills can be overwhelming, and we weren’t financially able to move forward at that time.

A couple of months later, the bump returned—and this time, it began to bleed. Constantly. Since early May, WALL-E has been in a cone, back on medications, and using steroid cream daily. The bump has ruptured and bled nearly every day since.

When we returned to our vet, they emphasized that the mass needs to be removed immediately. However, due to the complexity and location of the growth, they referred us to a veterinary ophthalmologist—fearing that a standard removal could cost WALL-E his vision. The specialist has the expertise and tools necessary to perform the surgery safely.

We were fortunate to get WALL-E in for a consult with the ophthalmologist. After running several tests and reviewing every possible option, surgery was confirmed as the best path forward to save WALL-E’s eye, his vision, and most importantly, his comfort and quality of life.

The high-end estimate for surgery is just under $4,000. With the $275.40 specialist exam fee, medication, and ongoing care to keep WALL-E comfortable until the procedure, the costs are adding up quickly—and it’s more than we can manage alone.

WALL-E is our world. He’s more than a dog—he’s family. If you’ve met him, you know how easy he is to love.
