Wallace Lester's fire fund
Donation protected
During the early morning of May 13—Mother’s Day—Wallace Lester woke up to discover that the storage shed in the backyard of his East Nashville home was on fire. He immediately called 911, and the fire was quickly extinguished, but almost all of the contents of the shed were destroyed. Wallace recently moved from Mississippi to Nashville to live close to and take care of his daughter Maeve, leaving behind regular gigs and solid work, so this fire couldn’t have come at a worse time. Many of his possessions were in the shed while he was decorating and building shelves for his new home.
A touring and session musician, Wallace lost his two good sets of drums-- vintage Ludwig vistalites and a Premier maple kit--in the fire. Those who know him are aware of his love of books and records, and a considerable amount of his huge collection, as well as his beloved vintage Mad magazines, were in the shed. Also destroyed were photo negatives and slides, including from his extensive travels across Africa, art, his and Maeve’s bicycles, and many other items from his life that he continues to recall as being stored back there.
Wallace clearly needs to replace his drums so he can get back to work, but more generally let’s help a good man out and put some cash in his pocket!
