Walk with Elias as he Battles Cancer

Meet Elias, a super amazing 10-year-old boy with an incredible imagination and an infinite love for all things cute, soft, and comfy. He is a child who cares very much about the well-being of others, loves to explore nature, and play with his friends.

 

While playing tag at school, Elias experienced a fall, causing his right humerus bone to fracture. Doctors reviewed Elias' X-Ray and alerted us to a cyst-like structure within his bone. After a biopsy on February 6, 2022, our concerns became our nightmare, and we were told Elias has Cancer -Osteosarcoma- in his right humerus bone and shoulder.  He had his first round of Chemo on Feb. 15.

 

Over the last month, we have met with a whirlwind of specialists, surgeons, oncologists, nurses, social workers, etc. We were sent from one hospital to another, getting many scans and labs, etc. Thankfully Elias' CT scan of his lungs and the full-body scan showed no metastasis. This is excellent news; however, we have been told that this could still happen at any moment, even during chemo.

 

We should also mention that Elias is on the autism spectrum. When Elias was 18 months old, he was diagnosed with "Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, and Mixed receptive-expressive language disorder." Getting through all the changes, struggling with his physical appearance changes in addition to the sensory overload he experiences every time he has to go to the hospital is sometimes almost too much to bear.

 

We are a family fighting against the elements of childhood cancer; the burden is emotional, physical, and financial. Our goal is to stay ahead of any further cancer spread through integrative care, protect Elias' joyful spirit, and enhance his quality of life as he faces this very physically challenging and potentially emotionally damaging journey. We are asking for support to help with bills, dietary and Naturopathic doctor expenses that will help Elias manage his symptoms from chemotherapy, boost his immune, and provide him with a better opportunity to heal.

 

Elias is surrounded by love, with a wonderfully caring older brother Lazarus, a loving and devoted father, Paul, and a caring and experienced mother, Erica, who has faced five different breast cancer and sarcomas over the last 15 years.

 

Donating to Elias will help us remain at the hospital when he is receiving chemo and help him deal with his nausea, vomiting, and the emotional rollercoaster he is on. It also means we will support his healing with a strong focus on his diet while continuing his care with his naturopath.
