"WALKING WATER is an invitation, an action, an educational journey and a prayer intended to bring together the voices of the many Peoples of the Eastern Sierra and Los Angeles watersheds through the act of walking together, following the waterways — natural and manmade — between Mono Lake and Los Angeles." 


Above see a photo of me on Walking Water  last year, standing with Rajendra Singh, "the water Ghandi of India," at Owens so-called "Lake," on the last day of Phase I of our pilgrimage.  What a powerful, beautiful and heartbreaking journey it was. 

Phase II begins in less than a week with a 200-mile walk through the Mojave desert from Owens Lake to the Sylmar Cascade just north of Los Angeles.  The physical conditions of this walk will be quite brutal...hot and windy with virtually no natural water sources along the way. But the community of walkers will start strong this year,  as many of us are returning, having created intimate bonds through our walking, praying, feasting, singing, storytelling and sleeping under the stars last year.


Like last year, I am asking for you to walk with me through your financial support. While I have the capacity to pay my own way, funds raised through my campaign will go towards the Harmey Bancroft Scholarship Fund supporting tribal youth to participate in the walk.  My $1500 goal will cover the costs for 3 youth to walk for 3 weeks. Last year, walking with tribal people through the lands and waters that were once theirs to roam was one of the most moving and powerful aspects of the journey.

Thank you for walking with me for water - so that all beings, human and non-human,  might have enough to nourish life.
