Hi, I’m Ocean.

On the 28th of July I’ll be setting off from Edale in the Peak District to begin my walk to Edinburgh. This year I’ve developed a real love for hiking, especially exploring the UK.

In 2021 my Nan was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. It has affected her not only mentally but physically too. As her confidence declined, she also lost her ability to move around and is now bedbound. My favourite thing to do is explore the UK and take photos and videos to share with her, something she still really enjoys.

To show support for those struggling with their memory, I’ve decided to spend my 19th birthday taking on this challenge with my dog Toby and my Dad. The walk will take us 21 days. We will be wild camping each night and carrying heavy backpacks with all our gear. It will be physically and mentally challenging but a true testament to the love we carry for everyone affected by dementia.
