London To Africa On Foot For Mental Health

Donation protected

My name is Jacob, AKA TheFitnessPsycho! After hitting some of the darkest lows of my life and being very lucky to still be here, alive and free. I decided to fight back and rebuild myself.

This walk from London to Africa is more than an adventure. It is proof that anything is possible, regardless of your position in life.

Joining me, is my friend Arnis. He is a crazy Lithuanian, fresh off an ACL/MCL/meniscus surgery ready to prove that nothing can hold him back!

The lead up to this walk hasn’t been easy. On just my second 15kg ruck walk in preparation for this journey, I badly sprained my ankle.

This severely limited my ability to walk, let alone train. I had to take weeks off work too. But that was nothing compared to what happened next.

Just 4 days away from my original start date for this journey, I got hit by a car driving at 40mph.

Best believe the car got written off, and I was sent flying. The paramedics said the damage to the car, in comparison to the damage to me, wasn’t consistent with previous cases they had dealt with. Bear in mind I still had 2 broken ribs, a pulmonary contusion (bruising on the lung), a sprained shoulder, and many cuts and bruises.

They told me I was lucky to be alive. One said “I don’t know if you are religious, but someone must be watching over you.” I am not religious, but it isn’t the first time someone has told me that.

I shed a few tears in that ambulance. They were purely tears of gratitude. I was so grateful to have made it this far, after multiple close shaves over the years.

Moments like this, remind me of why I strive to do good in this world. I could have lost everything, and on multiple occasions, meanwhile suicide rates are on the rise.

I was brought up by a good family who love me very much. I was a kid with opportunity and potential, but a few years ago I almost threw everything away. I became lost, erratic, and I felt awful. I felt I was letting, not only my family down, but I was letting myself down too.

Then one day, I told myself enough was enough! I decided I was going to turn my life around. Fast forward 4 years and here I am, about to set off on this incredible journey. I turned my pain into purpose, and that will never change.

I thank myself everyday for not giving up.

We aim to walk 18 - 25 miles a day and we are documenting everything. We will walk over 1500 miles, keeping you updated the whole way, through daily Instagram story updates, 3-5 vlogs a week, and livestreams on Tik Tok… and of course, loads of short form content on all platforms.

We’re leaving behind comfort, income, and excuses, for over 3 months, to test our limits and inspire others to do the same.

I have set up this fund raiser for two reasons. To raise money for a trusted mental health charity, and to raise funds to help support us on this journey. I will split the raised donation money 70% to the chosen charity, and 30% to support me and my friend. I have been out of work for months, due to injury, so any little helps.

Your support will help fund:
• Essential gear and supplies
• Charitable donations to mental health UK
• Safe shelter when needed
• Help towards content creation costs
• Food and water to keep us going

Any donation is highly appreciated, it is goes a long way, even if it’s £5. We will be showing our appreciation for all donations.

Whether it’s £1 or £100, every contribution brings us closer to making this real.
Let’s prove that discipline, brotherhood, and a wild dream can take you far.

The Route:
• Starting Point: Wimbledon, London
• Crossing through: France, Spain, Gibraltar then down to Morocco
• Minimal ferry use (only where legally/logistically necessary)
• Estimated Time: 90+ days
• Walking 8 hours per day

We’re not just asking you to help us.
We’re asking you to be part of an incredible story about resilience, growth, and proof of what’s possible when you set your mind on something.

If this resonates with you, please support us.
