Walking the West Highland Way for Maggie's Cancer Home

Myself, Tom Bray, and Alex O’Shea, both proud colleagues at Sir Robert McAlpine, are taking on an incredible challenge in support of Maggie's Cancer Home. On Sunday 13th April 2025, we’ll be walking the 96-mile West Highland Way, one of Scotland’s most iconic long-distance trails to raise vital funds for Maggie’s, an organisation that provides essential emotional, practical, and psychological support to people affected by cancer. Sir Robert McAlpine has been a proud partner of Maggie’s Cancer Home since 2017, and in that time, we have raised more than £1 million through other challenging fundraising events while overseeing the construction of numerous Maggie’s Centres across the country.

Maggie’s has touched the lives of countless individuals and families, offering a lifeline during some of their most challenging moments. Inspired by the care and compassion they provide; we’re embarking on this epic journey to ensure they can continue their incredible work.

But here’s the twist…

As if walking 96 miles across Scotland’s rugged and beautiful terrain wasn’t tough enough, we’ve decided to make this challenge even more interesting! We’re inviting YOU to suggest fun, creative, or downright ridiculous forfeits or challenges to keep us on our toes along the way. Whether it’s completing one of the days walking in flip-flops, eating and drinking nothing but bananas and tomato juice, or plunging into lakes and rivers along the route, we want you to help enhance the adventure!

Submit your ideas or forfeits to the email addresses below using the following reference ‘West Highland Way Challenge Ideas’, and we’ll pick some of the best to incorporate into our journey. Not only will this add a layer of fun to our trek, but it will also raise the stakes, making your support even more meaningful – we’ll make sure to vlog and post the journey at the end of the challenge for everyone’s (and our own) entertainment!

Every penny you donate will go directly towards supporting Maggie's in providing their life-changing services. So, get involved, donate, suggest a challenge, and let’s make this walk unforgettable, both for us and for those who benefit from Maggie’s incredible work.

Thank you for your generosity and creativity - we can’t wait to see what you come up with!
