On Saturday 4th April, I will be walking between Leicester General Hospital, Leicester Royal Infirmary, and finishing at Glenfield Hospital in memory of my nan.
My nan was one of the kindest, strongest people I’ve ever known. She put everyone else first, always. She had a quiet strength about her and a warmth that made people feel safe and cared for. To us, she wasn’t just “nanny” — she was comfort, laughter, stubbornness, love, and home.
During her final days, the respiratory team at Glenfield treated her with such dignity, compassion and patience. The care they gave her — and the support they gave us as a family — is something I will never forget. In such a difficult time, they showed not just professionalism, but real humanity.
I’m doing this walk to say thank you.
Thank you for the care.
Thank you for the kindness.
Thank you for giving her comfort when she needed it most.
Every donation, no matter how small, will go towards supporting the respiratory unit at Glenfield so they can continue caring for other families the way they cared for ours.
This walk is for her. For the strength she showed. For the love she gave. And for the incredible team who looked after her.
Thank you for helping me honour her in a way that gives something back
