Walked from Lands end to John O’groats
I have completed my walk from Lands End in Cornwall to John O’groats in Scotland. I am doing this in support of teenage cancer trust, which is a charity close to my heart because of my childhood best friend.
Lee Blissett was diagnosed with cancer of the hind quarter, osteosarcoma when he was 17. Lee had his right leg amputated at hind quarter (leg, pelvis, hip) to remove the cancer. Although being cleared of cancer for a few months he was then diagnosed with secondary cancer in his lungs. After 3 years battling cancer Lee passed at the age of 20. Lee and I grew up together on the same street and barely left each other’s side. Both of our mothers also became best friends and are still to this day. Lees family has been like a second family.
The route I took: starting with the south west coast path to Minehead. After that I’m joining a few trails together making my way through to Chepstow. From there I’m taking the offas dyke path. Once I’m close to Wrexham I’m making my way over to the Peak District and then onto the Pennine way. Entering Scotland I’ll be taking my journey through Glasgow then following the west highland way to fort William at the base of Ben Nevis. Starting from there will be the great glen way leading to Inverness. The last trail will be the John O’groats trail to my finish line.
This walk took 122 days. I started on the 20th of April and crossed the finishing line on the 19th of August!
