On October 22nd, 2025, I will be walking approximately x15 miles from Lincoln to Woodhall Spa to raise awareness and funds for Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) through my chosen charity, FND Dimensions.
FND is a brain network dysfunction—not brain damage or disease—where signals are processed abnormally, leading to real and disabling symptoms without a clear physical cause. It affects movement, sensation, memory, and more, often leaving those diagnosed feeling misunderstood and isolated and vulnerable
Why I’m walking
In February 2024, I was diagnosed with FND following two hospital admissions in late 2023. The diagnosis led to medical retirement, the loss of my driving licence, and ongoing challenges with mobility and memory. Despite these obstacles, I’ve worked hard to adapt—joining learning groups, dancing, and walking regularly, even though symptoms like leg pain and shutdowns persist
This walk is more than a fundraiser—it's a personal challenge and a statement of resilience. I’ll be following the scenic Waterway Sustrans path, and although my current average is x6–8 miles, I’m determined to complete the full x15 miles with the support of family and friends and shine a light on FND
