Walking for Florence
As a retired nurse at 77, I will be walking the 60-mile pilgrimage ‘The Way of St. Hilda’ from St. Hilda’s church, Hartlepool to Whitby Abbey to raise £3000 for the Florence Nightingale Foundation who are supporting me on this challenge.
I am proud to have spent my career in Nursing. From my first vocation as a Mental Health Nurse, it has always mattered to me to put patient care at the centre of nursing and challenge what has been done previously, to improve the care provided to patients. I was fortunate enough to be awarded a Scholarship from the Florence Nightingale Foundation which enabled me to support the evolution of nursing roles in the NHS.
Raising £3000 will provide funding for one nursing research scholarship. This will enable a nursing professional to improve clinical outcomes, patient experience and the nation's health.
Florence Nightingale is undoubtedly the world’s most famous nurse and her influence and legacy continue to have an effect throughout the world today.
