Walking Back to Victory: VE80 Remembrance Challenge

This year, members of 1st Carnoustie Boys’ Brigade and Girls’ Association are proud to be taking part in the Dundee Kiltwalk, stepping out with purpose to raise funds for a very special mission.

Eight of our Seniors (ages 15–17) will be travelling to London this November to take part in the National Remembrance Sunday Parade, marking the 80th anniversary of VE Day (VE80). These young people will stand shoulder to shoulder with veterans and serving personnel — proudly representing their Brigade, their community, and their country.

What makes this truly special is that five of these young people applied and secured their places in the Parade entirely on their own, driven by their deep sense of gratitude, respect, and duty. At an age when many are still finding their way, these young people have chosen to serve and remember — showing what leadership, maturity, and the Brigade spirit truly look like.

This challenge ties directly into our Seniors Programme, which encourages young people to lead, grow in faith, serve others, and make a lasting impact in their world. This opportunity gives them a chance to live out those values in a powerful, national moment of reflection and honour.
