Walking Anglesey for the Dougie Mac

On the 13th October a group of Stokies will walk the length of the island of Anglesey (North Wales) in order to raise money for the incredible cancer hospice, Douglas Macmillan.

The Dougie Mac is a cause close to many of our hearts and following one of our group’s mum’s, Lynne Burton, recent passing, we wanted to do something which would provide funds to the hospice and help to give people in their last days the support that they and their families need. Lynne was an incredible lady and a true inspiration - this article Link to Article  highlights how much work she did in campaigning for the breast cancer drug, Herceptin, which helped saved the lives of numerous women.

Why Anglesey? Anglesey is a place that many of us visited as children with our parents and a place where our relatives would often go for respite and reflection. It will be an emotional walk and hopefully one which will raise some money for a very good cause.

The group of people taking part in the walk is growing each day but at the moment we have around 20, all of which are using this page to raise money for the Douglas Macmillan. Any amount, however large or small, will mean a great deal to all of us, as will messages of support.

The walk is approximately 32 miles and the whole group is now deep in training!

Thank you for taking the time to visit our page and read our story.
