Walking 92k for students to study Computer Science

We are a group of friends from Preston, Lancashire: Ashley Prescott, Patrick Wolff, Leigh Haigh, Steven Lonsdale, Chris Hargreaves and Mark Coleman.

Mark started the Durham Inspired Coleman Scholarship to make sure students who want to study Computer Science at Durham University have the option to do so with the idea that no talented young person should be denied the education they deserve because of their financial circumstances.

In March '24 Mark ran 10k and raised an £2,765 for the cause, thanks to the overwhelming generosity of all supporters.

This time we're walking 92 kilometres along the Lancaster Canal, from Kendall in the Lake District to Preston, over the 29th and 30th of June.

The scholarship was launched in early 2021 and has already helped a number of students with their studies. The money is split across two areas:

1) Paying for one student's tuition fees to study full-time until they have received their BSc or MSc in Computer Science

2) Small bursaries to help a number of students by buying them equipment they need to succeed in their studies

Firstly a huge thank you to everyone who has already donated previously, especially to Cristina Buendia who has been supporting the scholarship since it was launched!

In 2024 the scholarship will be expanded to support two full-time students concurrently, which is why Mark needs your help.
