Hello, My name is Seán Sourke. On the 26th October, 2025 I will be taking part in Irish Life Dublin Marathon to raise money for Walk. Walk is a an innovative organisation who help people with disabilities, such as Autism, to find employment. (www.walk.ie)
I have autism and dyslexia. I'm basically neurodivergent. Finding a job is hard for a person with autism, but Walk have helped me accomplish that. I have been happily working part-time as a Kitchen Porter in The Green Kitchen and Garden Shop in Walkinstown, Dublin 12, since September 2024. It is a café and a garden shop that is operated by Walk. Their goal is to give work experience to neurodivergent people and offer them the same chance as everyone else.
The food in the Green Kitchen and Garden Shop is lovely. I call it one of the best restaurants in Ireland. I have also seen other people on the autism spectrum work there and they do a fantastic job. This proves that any one with a disability can do whatever they want and that their disability doesn't define them.
I am vey excited to be taking part in the marathon as I am also an athlete and love running. I have run many races, including half marathons, before and have cycled from Dublin to Cork over two days as a charity event for the Irish Cancer Society earlier this year. This, however, is going to be my first full marathon.
I was inspired to run the Irish Life Dublin Marathon by my amazing and fit parents. I was also inspired to do it when I saw Colin Farrell taking part in the marathon last year to raise money for Debra Ireland and Rory Stories to raise money for As-I-Am.
Any donations or support for my fundraiser would mean a lot to me, thank you.
