NAPA INTENSIVE THERAPY HAS BEEN LIFE CHANGING FOR SAKURA.
Yet it costs our family over $60,000 each year to provide 2-3 NAPA Intensive therapy session blocks.
Sakura is nearly 6 years old and has Diplegic Cerebral palsy which was aquired following her 9 week early premature birth.
Sakura's CP affects her ability to balance and walk, as well as her stamina .
Cerebral Palsy has no cure, so regular and intensive physical therapy will always be a part of Sakura’s life in order for her to reach her full potential.
Since May 2013, Sakura has completed 9 Intensive Therapy sessions of 60 hours each, in 3 week blocks with the NAPA Center based in Los Angeles.
Each session comprises of CME (Cuevas Medek Exercise) and Neurosuit Therapy, physical therapies considered somewhat “alternative” in Australia.
During and after each NAPA Intensive therapy session, Sakura’s progress is astounding and accelerated. During her first intensive at nearly 3 years old, she took two steps. During her 3rd intensive, aged nearly 4 years old, Sakura stood up independently for the very first time, and just recently, Sakura climbed 4 stairs independently. Sakura can now walk confidently on flat predictable surfaces for relatively short periods of time, still falling but always getting up!
Sakura can walk now so why does she still need NAPA Intensive Therapy?
Look at a “typically developing” 6 year old. They can navigate stairs, jump, walk backwards, crouch, climb, hop, skip and run, with the stamina to do this ALL DAY LONG. Sakura has a fierce determination and zest for life. Our blossoming dream is to continue to give Sakura every opportunity to reach her full potential, to gain stamina , agility and not to be left behind physically, to keep up with her friends.
We will do anything to provide Sakura with the opportunities in life to thrive and grow up as a mobile, independent, confident and happy girl.
That is why we reach out to you, our friends and family for your support as we know you share our blossoming dream.
We thank you for your support and generosity.
