Walker’s Heart Surgery

Donation protected
Walker was diagnosed with a complete atrioventricular canal defect and pulmonary hypertension in November 2023 at 6 months old. The only fix being he has to have open heart surgery. At his pre-op appointment we learned just how critical his congenital heart defect is and the damage being done to his body - X-rays show congestive heart failure.

At 8 months old, on January 29th, Walker will undergo open heart surgery to repair his heart defect - his heart, while enlarged due to the pressure building up, did not separate into valves like it should have before birth. He does not have a left or right side or an upper or lower - our surgeon will patch his heart so it is constructed as it should be. The enlargement will never go away but with the repair it should stop. The pulmonary hypertension should get better, it is not quite to the point of needing a lung transplant which we are so very thankful for.

Medical bills have already piled up and will only continue to grow. As a single income family with a very poor insurance policy (very high deductible and out of pocket max), we’re expecting surgery and hospital bills to be close to six figures.

Any funds received will go strictly toward medical bills and care for Walker.

However you feel led to support us, we thank you endlessly, whether that be financially, with meals, prayers and good vibes sent, sharing our story or by donating blood. Blood banks are severely low and desperately need donations to help save other lives. Your donation could help save another baby like Walker.

Thank you so much for your support.

Love,

Sam, John, Jackson and Walker
