Donations will be made to Shanine Okrainetz-Hopson family.

Baby Walker was born on July 25, 2020 at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops via emergency C-section. He had to be resuscitated at birth and was flown to BC Children's Hospital immediately.

Walker has a rare undiagnosed condition never seen before in the medical field and has undergone 3 surgeries before turning 3 months old. The 4th and biggest coming up November 10th.

Walker's ribs are fused, missing or deformed, which causes one lung to be smaller and constricted. As a result of his rib deformation, he developed scoliosis in his spine and has an S shaped spine.

He has a perforated anus (missing) that needs to be reconstructed in from his stomach to a new healthy placement, this can only be done through a serious surgery.

Walkers story has had a massive heart filled impact through all who know his Mother ( Shanine ), Father (Myles) along with many more beloved family and friends.

Walker uses a "g-tube" in his stomach for feeding from undergoing a colostomy surgery in his first week of life resulting to a has a bag on his stomach emptying excess waste,

This courageous boy also has only one kidney. His 'plumbing' is all incorrect. The colon attaches to his urinary tract and his urinary.

Walker is just over a year old, is fighting the fight of his life and will continue for many years. The hardest being the next few months.

On November 10th walker will go in for his biggest surgery. Envision a 19 lb infant receiving one size fits all growing rods. These will be attached to his rib mass and the mass will be sliced to create makeshift ribs. He will be on the operating table for 6 to 8 hours with huge risks and huge risks to follow. These rods can and most likely will slip off the ribs, when this happens an infection can occur and he will also be rushed into a revision surgery to correct the slip.
After this extensive surgery, he will require another surgery every 6 months to extend these rods until far into his teenage years.

In the meantime, will also have to undergo a surgery to form him an anus. Following this surgery they will have to go back inside walker and try to correct all his "plumbing" they are uncertain on what they will be able to do for him until they are physically inside of Walker.

Walker requires 24 hour care. With this Shanine is unable to work, and EI cut back eligible benefit months due to a loophole. Myles has to be gone minimum 3 weeks of a month to make the ends meet to provide for their family. Leaving Shanine at home with Ridge (3) and Walker (1). In the past month alone 3 long trips from Interior to Lower Mainland to BCCH have been made, and other local appointments

This family is scared beyond end of Walker's outcome for this surgery and future ones. But blessed to have this little fighter alive when there was a handful of instances that miracles happened. Doctors are stunned that he is alive and thriving with his family. He has overcame every obstacle in his path.

Shanine has an online Facebook blog of their journey with walker since birth which anyone is free to follow.
