On October 5th, 2018 we are holding our 6th Annual Walk-A-Thon. The Walk-A-Thon is one of the most famous and exciting fundraising events among our community.

Funds raised in our different fundraising events throughout the year are used to provide scholarships for nearly 60% of our students who otherwise couldn't be able to be part of Amistad community. The Walk-a-Thon is also an event that promotes an active and healthy life, and a great opportunity to teach our students to set goals and work to achieve them.

Amistad educates children as whole individuals. We respect and value their cultural and linguistic background, and use those rich backgrounds as a base for their education and empowerment. Our students experience a rigorous (but joyful!), bilingual, standards-aligned, culturally relevant academic curriculum that includes math, science, reading and writing workshops, health and nutrition, physical education, the arts, social, emotional and leadership development, as well as cultural events, food, and advocacy. In our diverse community of families, teachers, and staff, kids at Amistad work towards full bilingualism, biliteracy, and biculturalism. They learn to embrace their own culture and to welcome and respect the variety of cultures in our classrooms and in the world. Amistad works hard to make the program accessible to all families who share our values and goals, through a robust financial aid program that supports any family with financial need. Currently, our student body is roughly 80% children of color and more than 65% of our families receive financial assistance.
