Walk Normally Again
This is a hard to write. I’ve barely come to terms with my circumstances.
Somehow a routine ski day took a painful turn and I blew out my left knee. I heard and felt cracking and knew something bad had happened. I couldn’t stand and I came down the mountain in a toboggan behind the ski patrol – A first time for everything.
Now as I hobble on crutches awaiting surgery, each moment feels like a strange experiment in surrender. Simple movements must now be planned.
My injury occurred January 7th, to give me the best chance of walking normally again, it should be performed within 2 weeks. They'll repair my tibia with a plate & screws.
All funds will go directly toward surgery, medical bills and physical therapy. It's a routine procedure, so I am very hopeful as I begin a journey of recovery; probably 8 months.
The funds are sorely needed, very soon to meet the 2 week window. The good news is I have an amazing wife who is helping me recover and an obvious pathway to healing: Surgery and rest, then physical therapy, massage plus herbs and vitamins.
Each waking morning, I am reminded it was not a dream. And the real bad news is I didn't have insurance for this. Thus the GoFundMe campaign. I appreciate your generosity.
So it is with hope and regret that I ask for your financial support. I hope that I will walk again normally -- thanks so much.
