Walk in Sean Kenny's Shoes

Update 19th July 2023: On Friday the 7th of July, Sean underwent surgery on the primary tumour in his pelvis, on the 13th of July Sean arrived back in Ireland. Sean is now self-administrating treatment at home in the hope that his bloods and PSA levels will improve. Sean is getting rest this week and is hoping to be reunited with his family before the week is out.

Sean is father to 3 children 7,9 and 10 and along with his wife Bríd, he is determined to conquer cancer and see his young family grow up.

Sean and Brid are active members of the Aghada/Ballinacurra community, working locally & being involved in organisations such as the GAA (Football and Camogie), Sea Scouts, and Corkbeg Soccer, as underage coaches.

In late 2020, Sean was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer and underwent both chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Following this treatment, he went into remission. Unfortunately, the cancer has returned. As a result of this devasting news, Sean was forced to undergo urgent hip replacement surgery.

Sean continues his battle to prolong life and is planning to travel to the USA to undergo cryosurgery as the first stage of a treatment plan designed for him by Dr. Onik MD. This treatment is extremely expensive.

A Go Fund Me page has been created in order to support Sean on his journey to the USA for this surgery and ongoing treatment following his return home.

Any surplus funding will be donated to the Irish Cancer Society and Marymount Hospice. A funding committee comprising of Sean’s colleagues will ensure the transparent allocation of funds should a surplus arise.
