Walk in her boots.
Some coincidences are just unimaginable.
Like going to the doctor and being told you have breast cancer during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
My friend, Kim Shaw learned that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer on October 1st, the first day of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. She is facing a long battle, that has already started. This week she will have a port put in and begin 6 rounds of chemotherapy over the course of 18 weeks in hopes to reduce the tumor size so that surgery can be more successful.
Kim owns and operates Small City Farm, along with her husband Rohan, who has worked for a not for profit organization serving people in recovery for 22 years. They have provided some of the finest produce, flowers, and eggs to the finest chefs in this city. Many of us have had the great pleasure of having grand lunches at their property.
I believe we are a community of real people who care.
HOW TO HELP!
1- SHARE this!
2- Chip in some money
3- Ready set MEAL Team help!
4- Share this again...
5- Just do it. Everyone will say "whatever I can do". Reality is their heads are spinning and things will be put off until tomorrow. If you think you can help with anything, then do it.
6- Give a little more.
Some other details. Kim and Rohan do have insurance but the out of pocket is currently around $10,000, but surely will grow. Rohan’s sister (who lived in Australia along with the rest of his family) passed away from cancer in July. Rohan made two trips home to be with them.
Please help as much as you can.
Please share over any and all social networks. My own personal reach is only so big. If each restaurant, chef, friend, colleague etc. shared it just one time we can make a world of a difference in the lives of two exceptionally giving people.
All donations will go directly to Kim and Rohan. The organizer does not have access to funding or input into how the funds are used.
