the WE WANT TO LIVE walk against violence. To DC

Im pastor Anthony Williams. Pastor of the MLK Community Church. Since the murder of my son in the city of Burnham Illinois on February 21, 2018, (the same day Malcolm X was killed) my mission in life has been to bring a solution to the pandemic of violence in America. A resolution in the state of Illinois was passed in my sons honor a few years ago. And though me and my family were grateful to the state of Illinois for the resolution, my goal and prayer was to make it a solution based bill that would give us the resources we need to deal with the problem of violence, not just a resolution. After several years of work, this year that goal and prayer became a reality. The MLK community church, (the church I pastor) the Illinois Legislative Black Caucus and other legislators in the state were able to get House Bill 158 passed into law. This bill among other things makes violence a health crisis in the state of IL. This bill allows those of us who are concerned about bringing an end to violence in the state of Illinois to use the legislature to help solve the problem. This is a small victory, but its not enough. We must make it a federal bill.

That's what this fundraiser is about. We are walking from Chicago to D.C. to urge President Joe Biden to sign an executive order making violence a health crisis across this nation. We did it in Illinois via HB158. Now we must do it in Washington D.C.

This walk to walk to Washington is the "WE WANT TO LIVE" walk. Its purpose is  to bring attention to the cause and build momentum city to city to get the presidents attention. Urging him to sign an Executive Order making violence a health crisis nation wide.

We are scheduled to leave June 23 from Chicago IL, arriving in Washington DC July 4th. Each major city we get to, we will walk though that city by day, and caravan via Winnebago to the next city by night. We'll do a press conference in each city to build momentum for the major press conference in Washington D.C. on July 4th. Help us raise money to pay for a Winnebago, food, water, shoes and other expenses for myself a few members of my church and the greater community who will accompany me. Lets collectively bring a solution to the pandemic of violence in America. Thank you for your help!
